Researchers who have examined the views of 1,000 people who are stakeholders in the adoption landscape in Australia have announced their findings indicate there is a distinct need for adoption law reform in this country. In particular, the concept of “simple adoption” should be considered.

Karleen Gribble and Stacy Blythe of Western Sydney University announced the results of their research which looked at the experience of out-of-home care in Australia from the perspectives of both those personally affected and professionals working in the area of adoption. They gathered the views of people who had a connection to foster care or adoption, including adoptees, former foster kids and their birth parents, foster carers, adoptive parents and child welfare professionals.
